Join us We welcome players of all levels and experience. As a club member, you can come as often as you’d like or as little as your time allows. You can play informal games any time you find a willing opponent. You can also play United States Chess Federation-rated games at tournaments and other events we will sponsor from time to time.
You can also attend free chess lessons taught by members of the club. For every three lessons you attend you get a free entry (regular entry fee is $1 per game, up to a maximum of $5 per tournament) toward a rated club tournament. (You do not have to be a USCF member to join the club, play informal games or attend lessons. You have to be or become a USCF member to play rated games).
in December 2006, we launched this Web site, www.ircchessclub.org. Volunteers who can help us with our activities are always welcome.
WHAT WE NEED OF YOU Our only requirements for membership are that you:
A. Furnish your name and contact information by filling out the form at the bottom of this page and turning it in to a club officer. You contact information will be used for club purposes only and will not be shared with anyone outside the club. If you are under 18, the name and contact information for a parent or guardian is also required.
B. Abide by the club bylaws, the rules established by the club’s Board of Directors and membership, and the rules and regulations of the United States Chess Federation for rated events. Copies of bylaws, rules and regulations are available from club officers. C. Maintain a level of common courtesy and respect, including but not limited to accepted behavior, language and personal hygiene.
D. Pay annual dues if levied by the club’s Board of Directors. The club currently charges no dues but the Board reserves the right to do so in the future if necessary to support the operation of the club.
The club always welcomes voluntary donations but you will never be asked for one. Donations are used to support our teaching program and to provide free tournament entries to students. From time to time, we may also offer chess equipment in exchange for a suggested donation.
